Dr. John P.  Guste is a double board-certified plastic and reconstructive surgeon in New Orleans, recognized for delivering refined, natural-looking results through a combination of advanced surgical expertise and an artistic eye. He holds privileges at several of the region’s premier hospitals, including Crescent City Surgical Hospital, Houma Outpatient Surgery Center, Omega Hospital, Touro Infirmary, East Jefferson General Hospital, St. Tammany Parish Hospital, Avala, Recenter, Ochsner Baptist, Slidell Memorial, and Lakeview Hospital. 

Education

A New Orleans native and graduate of Jesuit High School, he earned his Bachelor of Science in Biology from Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge. He went on to receive his medical degree from Louisiana State University School of Medicine in Shreveport in 2009.

He completed five years of rigorous internship and general surgery residency training at Tulane University Department of Surgery in New Orleans, achieving board certification in general surgery in 2014.

He subsequently pursued advanced fellowship training in plastic and reconstructive surgery, serving as Chief Resident at LSU’s Department of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery in New Orleans in 2017. In 2018, he earned board certification in plastic and reconstructive surgery.


Dr. Guste is proud to be a native New Orleanian. In his spare time, he enjoys relaxing and entertaining with his wife, Courtney, and his four children: Clayton, Emerson, Ellen and John Jr. He is an avid hunter and fisherman, which goes hand-in-hand with his passion for cooking.
